Аннотация: Можно сказать, что для успешного хода промысла в данном районе необходимо наличие хорошего притока "свежей" атлантической воды с повышенной соленостью. Всякого рода водовороты и завихрения способствуют развитию промысла. Помимо оптимальных для данной породы рыб температур (речь идет о тресковых), решающее значение имеет величина вертикального температурного градиента. Увеличение его способствует сильному росту промысла, падение его, наоборот, влечет за собой распыление рыбы по вертикали вверх, уменьшение ее в придонных слоях, а следовательно, и падение улова или незначительное увеличение его, если другие факторы ему способствуют./The cod trawling fisheries within the area of Gussinaja Bank (44-49 degrees N. and 71-72 degrees W.) depend on a series of hydrological factors. The fishing grounds are distributed in areas most affected by the Atlantic waters, passing here from the west, i. e. along the northern slopes of the sumberged elevations of the Gussinaja and Kanin Banks. Water oozes (eddies) occuring here induce the concentration of fish. The same slopes are characterized by an increased salinity. The fisheries begin to grow in intensity by the time of the optimal temperature of 1-2 degrees C. However, the vertical distribution of temperatures is of paramount importance. A high vertical temperature gradient "presses" the fish down to the bottom, which increases catches. The lack of the vertical, temperaturegratdient causes the fish to disperse upward along the vertical thus handicapping catches in spite of all the factors being favourable. The low saline congent and the simultaneous rise of temperature, in spite of the high gradient, brouht, the fisheries to a complete stop on the southern slope of Gussinaja Bank. The author considers the same relationship between the course of fisheries and the hydrological conditions to be valid for other regions too.
