Показан вклад российских учёных в развитие морских исследований и выработку принципов рационального долгосрочного устойчивого использования водных биологических ресурсов региона в рамках ИКЕС, НЕАФК и НАФО./This is a review of the involvement of VNIRO's experts in the international fishery organizations for the North Atlantic covering an over than 70 year period of the existence of the Institute. It depicts the contribution of Russian scientists to the development of marine research, and to generating the principles of rational sustainable long-range use of the region's aquatic living resources under the auspices of ICES, NEAFC and NAFO.

Аннотация: В работе рассматривается процесс освоения, изучения и международного регулирования эксплуатации морских живых ресурсов Антарктики. Первоначально бесконтрольный (хищнический) промысел тюленей и китов до середины прошлого века вызывал необходимость международного конвенционного регулирования промысла китов и тюленей. После освоения ресурсов антарктического криля и рыб, в 60-е и 70-е гг. ХХ в., была создана конвенция по сохранению живых морских ресурсов Антарктики, в подготовке которой активное участие приняли сотрудники ВНИРО и других отечественных рыбохозяйственных институтов. Значительное место в работе отведено конкретной деятельности комиссии АНТКОМ, созданной на базе этой конвенции, её международной деятельности и вкладу отечественной рыбохозяйственной науки в дело сохранения экосистем и биоресурсов Антарктики, включая изучение и рациональное использование промысловых видов гидробионтов./The paper considers the process of exploration, study and international management of harvesting the Antarctic marine living resources. The sealing and whaling, initially, and till the middle of the last century unregulated and predatios, made it necessary to establish international regulation by a convention. Following the exploration of the Antarctic krill and fish resources the Convention on Conservation of the Antarctic Marine Living Resources was adopted, as drafted with active involvement of VNIRO scientists and the staff of the other national fishery research institutes. A significant part of the paper highlights the specific activities of CCAMLR established by that convention, its international work and the contribution of the national fisheries science to conservation ecosystems and living resources of the Antarctic including the study and rational utilization of the fishing species of hydrobionts.
